Data Centers

I support Woodbury’s decision to pause new large-scale data center development while we study the long-term impact on our community. The moratorium gives us time to carefully examine issues including water use, energy demand, noise, infrastructure, and appropriate zoning standards.

Economic development is important, but not every development is the right development for Woodbury. Before approving projects that could place significant demands on our infrastructure and natural resources, we need to understand the long-term costs and benefits.

I am also opposed to the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) that prevent residents from knowing important information about major development proposals being considered in their community. When decisions could have a significant impact on Woodbury, transparency should be the standard.

My approach is simple: protect what we love and plan for what we need. Growth should strengthen Woodbury without compromising our water, green spaces, infrastructure, transparency, or quality of life.

Automated License Plate Readers (Flock Cameras)

I have major concerns about the use of automated license plate readers (ALPRs), particularly regarding privacy, data retention, who can access the information, and how that information may be shared.

I support pausing or discontinuing the use of ALPRs until appropriate safeguards have been demonstrated and an independent review has been completed.

That review should examine data access, retention policies, information sharing, auditing, protections against misuse, and whether this technology is delivering measurable public safety benefits.

I believe we can support public safety while protecting the privacy and rights of Woodbury residents. Technology used in the name of public safety should come with strong safeguards, transparency, and accountability.

Public safety matters. Privacy matters. We should protect both.
